Design is not decoration.
It is the architecture of experience.

A poorly designed interface can undermine years of development: users abandon it, support volumes surge, adoption stalls. Our approach begins with research on real users and builds experiences that work — before a single line of code is written.

What does ignoring UX actually cost?

Most software projects fail at the adoption stage, not during technical development. The code works — but users don't use it as intended, error rates are high, and support is overwhelmed.

This happens when UX is added as an afterthought, without ever observing a real user. Our approach integrates design from the requirements analysis phase: not as embellishment, but as a discipline that reduces project risk.

The cost of delay

Failed adoption

Avoidable rework

Every hour of user research saves an average of 6 hours of subsequent rework. Early-stage design is an investment, not a cost. Source: IBM Systems Sciences Institute

Competitive advantage

In markets where the technical product is comparable, user experience becomes the primary differentiator. Design is strategy.

User-centred design, integrated into development

We don't design screens: we design interaction systems. Each phase produces tangible outputs that inform the subsequent development work.

1

UX Research and user analysis

Contextual interviews, analysis of existing flows, and competitive benchmarking. We identify the real needs of users before designing any interface.

2

Information architecture and user flows

Navigation structuring, mapping of primary flows, and content hierarchy. Validated with card sorting and tree testing before wireframing.

3

Wireframing and interactive prototyping

Mid-fidelity wireframes for layouts, hierarchies, and primary interactions. Clickable prototype to validate flows with real users before code is written.

4

UI design and visual system

High-fidelity interface: colour palette, typography, iconography, spacing, and micro-interactions. Every element meets WCAG 2.1 across all breakpoints.

5

Design system and developer specifications

Library of reusable components with tokens, states, and documented variants. Each component designed once — applied consistently everywhere.

6

Usability testing and continuous optimisation

Moderated and unmoderated testing with real users, post-launch analysis of task completion rate, time-on-task, and error rate. Data-driven improvement cycles.

How we work

The designer is embedded in the team from the requirements analysis phase — not an external consultant delivering specifications late in the project.

01
Design and development in parallel

No translation gap: specifications are produced within the team, not lost in the handover between disciplines.

02
Validation with real users

Testing on interactive prototypes before final code is written — issues surface at the lowest possible cost.

03
UX metrics post-launch

Task completion rate, time-on-task, and error rate monitored and iterated alongside the product team.

What we design

Management and B2B software

Complex dashboards, operational workflows, and data-dense interfaces. We design to reduce errors and accelerate operations for domain-expert users.

Enterprise mobile applications

Interfaces for iOS and Android applications with complex business logic. Offline-first design, error state management, and adherence to platform guidelines.

Web portals and e-commerce

Information architecture for complex portals and conversion funnel optimisation. Systematic A/B testing to improve post-launch KPIs.

Corporate design systems

Unified component libraries for organisations with multiple digital products. Reduces development time for new features by 40–60% whilst ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.

EAA 2025

Digital accessibility

Audit, remediation, and design compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. A legal requirement from 2025 for many organisations — we manage compliance without slowing down development.

UX Audit and redesign

Heuristic analysis of existing systems, friction points identified with real data, and an improvement roadmap prioritised by business impact.

The difference between integrated UX and UX added at the end

UX as an afterthought
  • Interface designed by developers, without user research
  • Usability issues discovered in production — 100× more costly to fix
  • Low adoption rates, high and costly support volumes
  • UI components redesigned for every project, with no visual consistency
  • Post-launch feedback that never reaches the designer
TC Consulting — Integrated UX
  • Designer embedded in the team from the requirements analysis phase
  • Issues identified during prototyping, before a single line of code is written
  • Validation with real users before every release — adoption by design
  • Design system: components designed once, reused everywhere
  • UX metrics monitored and iterated post-launch alongside the team
How AI powers this service

AI-accelerated design, validated by users

Automated analysis of research data: synthesis of user interviews, clustering of emerging themes, and identification of patterns in usage data
Accelerated variant generation: rapid exploration of layout and visual composition solutions — human selection and refinement of the most promising directions
Automated accessibility audit: systematic verification of contrast, legibility, and WCAG compliance integrated into the design workflow, not treated as a separate step

Design and code grow together

When design and development work in sequence, specifications are lost in the handover, components diverge from the approved design, and post-launch feedback never reaches the designer.

  • Designer embedded in the team from the requirements analysis phase
  • Design system with tokens synchronised to the codebase
  • UI review during sprints, not only at project end
  • Interactive prototype as the single source of truth for developers
  • Usability testing before final code is written
  • UX metrics monitored post-launch and iterated together

UX redesign of an operational portal for the manufacturing sector

UX & UI Design

From legacy interface to a modern operating system for 200 operators

The challenge: a production management portal dating from 2012, generating 80+ support tickets per month. Operators found it unusable on tablets and had developed Excel-based workarounds that bypassed the official system entirely.

The solution: 3 weeks of field research — direct observation, interviews, error log analysis. Information architecture redesigned from scratch, new UI optimised for tablet use, and a design system to ensure consistency across future development.

We had a system our operators avoided at all costs — the spreadsheet had become the real system, and the software was only used for reporting. TC Consulting observed how people actually work on the production floor, not how we assumed they worked. The result is an interface our operators adopted spontaneously: no forced training, no resistance, no workarounds.
